At the 2020 International Builders’ Show (IBS), in Las Vegas, MiTek showcased how its Sapphire software can help component manufacturers address three industry concerns: the industry’s labor shortage, on-time project completions, and job site safety.

Using MiTeks’s Sapphire software, component manufacturers can design and create components with all of the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems at an off-site facility. The software can also identify the component’s lifting points and center of gravity to help safely lift and move components.

At IBS, MiTek showed how the software could be used by a component manufacturer to create a floor cassette. “I can manufacture these all indoors. It makes [the process] a lot more accurate. I can test-fit these at the manufacturing facility and then I can ship these out to the job site, knowing that it’s going to fit once it gets out to the job site,” Aaron Hurd, field tech rep manager at MiTek, said at the company’s booth at IBS.

“Out at the job site it’s a lot safer, because now I’ve only got a crew of two plus a crane that are setting these up on the system. And I’m putting in a whole fully-braced system up onto the walls…. I’ve also got tie-down locations for my safety equipment, so I don’t have to figure out how to tie off appropriately on the job site. I can just hook to the equipment that’s already been placed with the system. So, I’ve got a system that’s much safer, faster to install, and much cheaper to use.”
