BlueLinx Sales Rise 27.7% in 2Q, but Net Loss Persists

Trex Posts 26% 2Q Sales Jump, but Charges Cut Net Profit

Trex Company Inc.'s net sales jumped 26.3% in the second quarter from the year earlier to hit $115.5 million, and it forecast another 16.3% year-over-year jump in sales during this quarter. But Trex's financial report also revealed the company's net income shrank 23.7% in the second quarter from the year-earlier period to $5.6 million, in large part because it took $11.4 million worth of non-cash charges. Bison's Loss Deepens in January

Bison Building Materials, the nation's 14th-biggest LBM operation, incurred a net loss of $831,274 in January, its worst single month yet, in part because of stocking costs to replace defective merchandise. January's report pushed Bison's total losses to $4.2 million since the Houston-based dealer entered Chapter 11 last June 28. More
