BFS Squeezed by Run-Up in Commodity Prices

4Q Loss at Weyerhaeuser's Wood Products Unit Dwindles

Weyerhaeuser Co.'s wood products unit incurred a $208 million operating loss in the fourth quarter. That's four times better than the $960 million loss the unit posted for the last three months of 2008 but more than double the $97 million loss it posted in last year's third quarter. More

Weyerhaeuser To Suspend Work at Georgia Veneer Plant

Weyerhaeuser Co. announced Nov. 6 that it will indefinitely close its iLevel Veneer Technologies facility in Colbert, Ga., effective immediately. The announcement comes a week after Weyerhaeuser reported its wood products operation showed a $146 million loss for the quarter, slightly worse than the $131 million loss in July-September 2007 but better than the $164 million loss in this year's second quarter.
