Shanghai-based Husqvarna Machinery Manufacturing Co. is voluntarily recalling 19,500 grass trimmers and 6,500 hedge trimmers after the company received seven reports of fuel leaking from the rubber spacer that holds the fuel lines in the fuel tank, and creating a fire hazard, the federal Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced today.

The recall affects the company’s Grass Trimmer Model 122C with serial numbers ranging from 2011 17 00001 to 2011 52 99999. “Husqvarna” and the model number are located on top of the grass trimmer; the serial number is located on a black plate on the bottom of the tool’s muffler side. The company is also recalling its hedge trimmers in Models 122HD60 and 122HD45 with serial numbers ranging from 2011 17 00001 to 2011 52 99999. “Husqvarna” and the model number are also located on top of the tool; the serial number can be found on a black plate on the gear box.

“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and return them to the place of purchase for a free repair,” CPSC said. No injuries have been reported.

The product was manufactured in China and sold at Lowes, Sears, and Husqvarna dealers and distributors nationwide between May 2011 and January 2012. Consumers can contact the company toll-free at (877) 257-6921 or email [email protected].
