Cary Anderson, one of the best-known people in construction supply because of his three decades of work in LBM-related software, has joined Kerridge Commercial Systems (KCS) as vice president of research and development for North America, KCS announced.

Anderson joins KCS from Epicor, where he has been senior director of product development since May 2011. His most recent duties included a key account relationship with US LBM, one of Epicor's biggest lumberyard customers.

Epicor traditionally has had the biggest market share in LBM space, in part because of the many acquisitions it has made over the years. It most recent major purchase was when it bought Progressive Solutions and converted that company's BisTrack software into Epicor's premier software package for big dealers.

Based in Britain, KCS rivals Epicor in market share among European LBM dealers, but only in the past few years has the company been in the North American market. KCS' first big splash on this side of the pond came when it acquired Dancik International, a Cary, N.C.-based provider of software for flooring distributors. Then in 2016, it acquired Mincron Software Systems, a Houston-based firm that primarily serves distributors of plumbing, HVAC, and waterworks products. All those companies now carry the KCS flag and the company's North American operations are based in Cary, N.C.
