Katerra debuted its building products brand KOVA, expanding the technology company’s business model for building materials. KOVA offers professionals a curated and “cost-effective collection of high-quality” products spanning all major categories of finish materials, according to the company.
“As designers and builders specify and order their products, they may go through a lot of different partners for their plumbing, lighting, cabinets, countertops, etc.,” Trevor Schick, head of the KOVA materials business, said in a prepared statement. “KOVA is a one-stop shop where we provide all of these materials at a premium quality and great design, but at a better value and with a quicker turnaround. So, as a developer is looking at what they can do to drive cost down on a project, KOVA is now one of the levers they can pull.”
KOVA’s first offering of products provides industry professionals with a suite of materials and finishes, including light fixtures, flooring, door and cabinetry hardware, plumbing fixtures for kitchens and baths, window coverings, and accessories. According to the company, all KOVA products meet the highest environmental and quality standards, including Cal Green certification across kitchen and bath faucets and shower heads.
The name KOVA is derived from the prefix “co-,“ meaning together, and the word “va” which translates to “go” in Spanish. The brand was established on the concept that design, quality, and value can go together and strike a “perfect balance.”
Founded in 2015, Menlo Park, Calif.-based Katerra is attempting to optimize every aspect of building design, materials supply, and construction. The company recently opened a CLT facility in Spokae Valley, Wash., which the company hopes will be the highest volume factory for the material in North America.
