Instinct, iDevices’s newest smart home component, serves as both a Wi-Fi enabled smart light switch and a full-fledged Amazon Alexa smart hub.
Using the Instinct switch, homeowners can utilize voice commands to control any Alexa-enabled smart device in the home, including any other iDevices product. The switch may also be used to activate any other Alexa voice function, including news and weather reports, Internet searches, and music and podcast streaming in a future update.
Users can set additional functions and connections for Instinct and other Alexa-enabled devices in the Amazon Alexa app, including schedules, Routines to automate certain tasks, and custom voice commands to activate multiple functions.
“By combining Amazon Alexa with a smart light switch, counter space is no longer a barrier to whole-home voice control,” says Chris Allen, president of iDevices. “Instinct is the epitome of sophisticated intelligence, functionality and design — a critical breakthrough in the smart home evolution. It represents the latest innovation from iDevices, and a clear shift in how we’ll interact with our homes going forward.”
Like all iDevices products, the Instinct is hub-free, and works with both iOS and Android devices. Its SOEN Audio technology provides high-performance sound quality for music or podcast streaming. The console features manual lighting controls, a mute button, far-field microphones that allow the device to respond only when it is the closest Alexa device, and LED lights that can form an Echo-style light ring or customizable night light, controllable via the Amazon Alexa app.
Future updates will add Amazon Music and Audible streaming services, as well as motion and light sensor functionality. idevicesinc.com
