Simpson Strong-Tie’s Strong-Drive WSV subfloor screw has been redesigned to be compatible with Strong-Tie’s Quik Drive auto-feed screw driving system when fastening subfloor and sheathing. The new WSV screw features a six-lobed ribbed head for cleaner countersinking. It also has a redesigned tip and thread pattern that the company says produces 25% less torque.

Brass Knuckle’s new Vader Combo is protection for the multi-tasker. The Vader Combo combines a vented goggle and face shield to protect against wetness, debris, and impact. The anti-fog goggle is 99.9% UV protection-rated, according to the company, and it will fit over glasses. The impact shield is connected to the goggle, not the hard hat, so the Vader Combo moves with the head.

Dewalt’s new ToughBox storage chest will keep up on the most demanding jobsites, the company says. The storage box features a 16-gauge steel body, a 14-gauge steel floor, and 7-gauge steel skids. It can hold up to 2,500 pounds and is compatible with the company’s ToughSystem Totes to provide more storage at the top of the chest. ToughBox is available in 36-, 42-, 48-, and 60-inch sizes.

Lighting Science has created the Durabulb: a shatter-resistant LED lightbulb. The Durabulb’s polycarbonate plastic shell is stronger than normal incandescent bulbs and makes it ideal for high-traffic locations like garages and indoor construction sites, according to the company. Durabulb has a 700 lumen output, which makes it a suitable replacement for traditional 60 watt lightbulbs.

Typar released its new Surround VR underlayment. According to the company, one roll of Surround VR covers the same area as five rolls of #30 felt, but weighs seven times less and is 10 times as strong. Surround VR is made from a waterproof, synthetic polymer material. Typar says Surround VR can withstand temperatures from -40 degrees to 240 degrees Fahrenheit and will not warp when wet.
