UCLA Engineers Awarded Grant to Create Eco-Friendly 3D-Printed Concrete

A team of UCLA engineers have been awarded a $1.5 million grant from the National Science Foundation to develop a 3D-printed concrete that will make the building material more eco-friendly, Interesting Engineering reports. Concrete currently requires a high carbon footprint, but the UCLA engineers are hoping to produce a product that includes carbon dioxide in its cement binder, potentially reducing the material’s carbon footprint by 60%.
