Chanell Roofing and Home Improvement faces penalties totaling $200,451 for violations of OSHA's fall protection standards at two separate jobsites in Avon, Ohio. Cleveland, Ohio-based Chanell Roofing and Home Improvement has been cited four times for fall protection violations since 2015 with cumulative fines nearing $50,000.
OSHA inspectors cited the roofing company for two willful violations for failing to install and require the use of a guardrail, safety net, or personal fall arrest system while employees worked on residential roofs, according to a news release. OSHA also cited Chanell Roofing and Home Improvement for failing to train employees on fall protection hazards and the proper use of a ladder, for failing to develop a safety and health program, and for failing to require the use of head protection.
“Employers must follow the law, and ensure that workers wear fall protection equipment, and are trained on recognizing and avoiding fall hazards,” said OSHA Toledo, Ohio, area director Kimberly Nelson.
Chanell Roofing and Home Improvement has 15 business days from the receipt of its most recent citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with their OSHA area director, or to contest the findings.
