Building materials supplier National Lumber announced the retirement of Michael McDole, senior vice president of sales, effective March 31, after nearly 20 years with the company. The company also announced the promotion of Dean Wagar to the role of senior vice president of sales and David Pelletier to executive vice president. Wagar will oversee all aspects of sales for the company and Pelletier will oversee overall operations of the company, as well as the inside sales support team.
McDole joined National Lumber in 2001 as a sales manager responsible for the territory of southern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In 2007, he was promoted to vice president of sales, responsible for outside sales in the eastern and southern coast region. According to National Lumber, McDole was a driving force behind the company’s expansion into Warwick, R.I., in 2010. Prior to joining National Lumber, McDole worked for 84 Lumber and JT’s Lumber in Rhode Island. McDole left his position as vice president/general manager of JT’s in 2000 to start up the Building Supply Channel with industry veteran and founding ProSales editor Greg Brooks.
Wagar joined National Lumber in 2001 and has held the title of vice president of sales for the north territory for the past 15 years. The newly promoted SVP of sales began his industry career as a manager trainee at Grossman’s, where also served as a store manager. Wagar also previously held the position of general manager for an independent lumberyard in Vermont and as general manager for Wickes Lumber in Illinois.
Pelletier began with National Lumber as vice president of the installed sales and drywall divisions after the supplier acquired his company, Pelletier’s Building Supply, in 2009. In 2015, his role expanded when he was promoted to the position of vice president of operations, overseeing the operations of all lumberyard locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Pelletier was recently promoted to the role of senior vice president of operations in 2018. In that role, he spearheaded the company’s ERP conversion to BisTrack.
National Lumber operates ten lumberyards in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, 11 Benjamin Moore paint locations, seven Kitchen Views showrooms, two Reliable Truss and Components manufacturing facilities, and specialized divisions that include engineering, drywall, installed insulation, and custom millwork manufacturing. The 85-year-old company is owned and operated by the third generation of the Kaitz family and ranked 18th on the 2020 ProSales 100 list.
