National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) analysis of government data finds that new single-family and multifamily construction used a total of $94.93 billion in building products in 2019. Cement and concrete products and architectural and structural metals represent the most used products in residential construction, according to the NAHB. Although individually accounting for smaller shares, the three main categories for wood products (plywood and engineered wood products, sawn lumber and treated wood products, and "other" wood products) accounted for around $10 billion of the $94.93 billion, according to the NAHB's Eye on Housing blog.
