

Engineers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have developed a new method of making concrete without emitting carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Cement production is one of the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the construction industry, making the emissions-free cement product an appealing option for environmentally-cognizant builders and architects, Big Think reports. While the emissions-free method is not yet ready to be implemented at scale, the researchers said it is an “important first step” to a greener cement product.
