MaterialsXchange, an electronic marketplace for buying and selling raw materials, expanded its sales team with the hiring of Dave Gaudreau. Gaudreau will serve as the sales director for MaterialsXchange, according to the company.

The newly hired Gaudreau has more than 30 years of experience, holding roles in sales and business development, serving over 20 years as vice president of business development and national accounts for Sherwood Lumber.

“Dave and I worked together at Sherwood,” Ashley Boeckholt, CRO and co-founder of MaterialsXchange, said in a news release. “He is a hard-working, go-getter, which is exactly what we need on our team. As a young technology business in a non-technical industry, we need a fighter with vast lumber knowledge. Dave is a highly intelligent leader who knows how to get the job done. Most importantly, he is a good person that we are excited to have on our team as an agent of industry change.”

According to MaterialsXchange, Gaudreau is jumping into his role with the company headfirst and sees the digital transformation for building materials as a “great advancement.” The company said the newly appointed sales director is eager to link his deep-rooted customer base with MaterialsXchange’s new technology.

Chicago-based MaterialsXchange’s goal is to bring both the ease of an ecommerce solution and the sophistication of the modern capital markets to the lumber industry. The digital marketplace launched in 2019 and the first listing on the marketplace were wood products, specialty oriented strand board, European spruce lumber, and southern pine lumber. Earlier in 2020, the company partnered with Ravens Logistics as it expanded its product offerings to include rail freights.
