Roseburg Forest Products appointed Chris Metcalf to the newly created position of director of reliability for the company, according to a news release. In the role, Metcalf will oversee the analysis of reliability and maintenance practices and needs companywide and implement solutions to create a high-performance manufacturing culture.
"As director of reliability, Chris will build a small team of company resources dedicated to helping our plants define and implement best practices for asset management and reliability," said Jake Elston, senior vice president of operations. "Equally important, Chris will also work with our operational units to help determine what local resources are needed to drive improvement in our business."
Metcalf has led improvements in maintenance and reliability for several manufacturing organizations over the past 15 years, according to Roseburg. He has experience working in the engineering, operations, and centers of excellence departments at organizations including Anheuser-Busch, Sara Lee, DuPont Pioneer, Titan America, and Enviva.

Springfield, Ore.-based Roseburg Forest Products manufactures particleboard, medium density fiberwood, thermally fused laminates, softwood and hardwood plywood, lumber, LVL, and I-joists. The privately-owned company owns and manages more than 600,000 acres of timberland in Oregon, North Carolina, and Virginia.
