MITER Brands, a residential window and door manufacturer, appointed Rob Hershberger, co-founder of PGT Custom Windows and Doors and past chairman of the board for PGT Innovations, to its board, effective July 25.
“I am thrilled to join the MITER Brands’ board,” Hershberger said. “Having known the DeSoto family for several decades, I have always admired their hardworking entrepreneurial spirit and family-first values. Their unwavering focus on customers, belief that business is always personal, and encouragement for team members to dream big resonates deeply with me, as these principles are also at the heart of their culture at PGT Custom Windows and Doors and PGT Innovations. I look forward to contributing to their passion and dedication to building the most valued window and door brand in America.”
Hershberg co-founded VinylTech, a vinyl porch enclosure manufacturing company, in 1980 with Paul Hostetler. The two established a new division known as Progressive Glass Technology (PGT) in 1987 to manufacture windows and doors. The team set out to manufacture a window product that would be as strong as a block wall in 1992 following the destruction caused by Hurricane Andrew.
After retiring from PGT in 2017, Hershberger served as the non-employee chairman of the board for PGT Innovations, parent company of several window and door brands, including PGT Custom Windows and Doors.
“We are delighted to welcome Rod Hershberger to the MITER Brands’ board,” Matt DeSoto, CEO of MITER Brands, said. “Hershberger brings a wealth of experience and is known as a thought leader and innovator in the window and door industry. Aside from his deep understanding of our industry, Hershberger’s humility and devotion to his core values make him an invaluable addition to our board. We are excited to work together to drive innovation and excellence in the window and door market.”
MITER Brands, founded in 1947, is a residential window and door manufacturer that produces a portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. The company has more than 20 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States.
