Georgia-Pacific will cease production at its McCormick, S.C. lumber and Allendale, S.C. oriented-strand-board facilities due to overall market conditions. Plans for the plants will continue for 60 days before shutting down, local television station WJBF-TV reports. Between the two plants, around 250 employees will be impacted by the closures. The South Carolina closures follow a recent pattern for Georgia-Pacific: In February, the company closed a plant in Georgia, in April it closed an Oregon plant, and in June it laid off 650 workers in Arkansas and closed two additional plants.
