The International Code Council (ICC) welcomed a new group of officers and directors to its board of directors. The board of directors was finalized during the Code Council Annual Business Meeting. The board sets the direction for the association and acts as the voice of the association’s membership, according to a news release.
The new executive committee includes: · Greg Wheeler, president, is the chief building official for Thornton, Colo., and serves on the Colorado State Board of Appeals for School Construction. Wheeler is a charter member and former president of the Colorado Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials.
· Cindy Davis, vice president, is the deputy director of the Virginia Division of Building and Fire Regulations. She also serves on the board of the National Institute of Building Sciences.
· Michael Wich, secretary/treasurer, is the director of Building Code Administration and the chief building official of the South Central Planning and Development Commission in Houma, La.
· William Bryant, immediate past president, is the assistant director of inspections and permits for Anne Arundel County, Md.
“Our Board of Directors has extensive experience in the building safety industry,” ICC's CEO Dominic Sims said in a news release. “Their expertise and vision is a benefit to the Code Council family of solutions as we implement our updated strategic plan, Vision 2025. We are well positioned to provide quality products and services for the entire building safety industry for years to come.”
The ICC is an association that provides a wide range of building safety solutions, including product evaluation, accreditation, certification, codification, and training. It develops model codes and standards used worldwide to construct safe and resilient structures. In December 2018, the ICC approved 14 tall mass timber code change proposals, paving the way for mass timber code change proposals to be included in the 2021 International Building Code.
