The 2005 NLBMDA/ProSales Industry Summit provided an opportunity for more than 300 dealers, suppliers, and families to enjoy educational sessions, networking events, and the breathtaking scenery of Vancouver, British Columbia. During the fall meeting, dealer-led committees advanced projects promoting safety training, risk management, and retailer liability relief for the industry.
The evening receptions gave dealers from across the U.S. a chance to meet new colleagues and share insights about their businesses. NLBMDA's annual auction and raffle raised more than $21,000 to support our government affairs programs and the Lumber Dealers Political Action Committee (LuDPAC). We thank our auction donors and generous contributors for their support!
At the annual member meeting, dealers for the first time had the opportunity to vote directly for their executive committee and board of directors. Kevin Hancock, CEO of Hancock Lumber in Casco, Maine, was elected chair unanimously, replacing outgoing chair Sam Dunn of Dunn Lumber in Daytona Beach, Fla. “I am humbled, excited, and honored to have this opportunity to serve our industry,” Hancock said. Outlining his priorities for the coming year, Hancock pledged to “personally reach out to all dealers, to invite them to get involved in our great association.” He concluded his remarks promising to “have great fun, celebrating our industry and our collective work to serve it.”
