Leading window and door manufacturer Andersen Corp. announced May 24 it will acquire North Brunswick, N.J.-based vinyl window and patio door manufacturer Silver Line Building Products Corp.

The acquisition will allow Bayport, Minn.-based Andersen, which does not currently offer vinyl windows, to round out its product offerings and expand into new market segments. "Vinyl windows serve a segment of the market that is growing rapidly," said Andersen president and CEO Jim Humphrey in a press release. "Adding this product line to the enterprise's portfolio will enable an Andersen company to provide windows and doors for virtually any new-construction or home improvement project in any area of the country."

"This is a very exciting and important next step for Andersen," Andersen community affairs manager Susan Roeder told PROSALES May 24. She reports that the acquisition should not have an impact on current Andersen or Silver Line dealers, and dealers should expect to continue working with the same people as before. Silver Line will operate as a stand-alone subsidiary of Andersen, and the Silver Line brand name will remain. "[The acquisition] fills out a very important part of our product portfolio," Roeder says. "It's very complementary, and we don't anticipate any changes."

The deal is tentatively set to close June 30; terms were not disclosed.
