The Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association (ILMDA) named R.P. Lumber vice president Jason Plummer as its 2020 Lumberman of the Year. The award is the highest individual honor given in the Illinois retail lumber industry and recognizes individuals who exemplify selfless dedication to the promotion of professionalism in the industry.

The Lumberman of the Year is a peer-recognition award given to the individual lumber dealers across Illinois recognize for their years of serving the independent lumber dealers of Illinois. The nomination and selection process is facilitated through the ILMDA executive team.

Plummer is an ILMDA college scholarship recipient and the second in his family to receive the award. Jason’s father Robert Plummer was named Lumberman of the Year in 20143.

Plummer has previously served on the ILMDA board of directors for over a decade and was “instrumental” in establishing the current ILMDA long-range plan, according to the association. The Lumberman of the Year is currently the vice president of ILMDA and will serve a two-year term as the president of the association beginning in 2022.

Edwardsville, Ill.-based R.P. Lumber was founded in 1977 and operates 72 locations across Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, and Wyoming. The full-service retail home center and building materials supplier serves customers in numerous other states, including Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma.
