Hawaiian company Re-Use Hawaii is aiming to reduce landfill waste from the largest contributor in the state: construction and demolition materials. West Hawaii Today reports that 30% of waste in the state comes from construction and demolition sites. The deconstruction movement, a sector based on methodically recovering material during construction so it can be reused in its original form, has previously turned into business opportunities in Chicago, Baltimore, and Milwaukee.
