Maine-based Hancock Lumber has named Nick Christ as general manager of its Brunswick location.

Christ has nearly 30 years of experience in lumber, hardware, and building supply, much of which was spent at The Home Depot.

“To make such a significant career move, the opportunity had to be seriously compelling—and I did not take this change lightly,” Christ said. “When the new role presented itself, I reached out to a few former colleagues now in managerial roles at Hancock Lumber. Hearing directly from people I trust and respect reinforced what I was reading on the company’s website—they had nothing but incredible stories to share.”

In addition to overseeing the Brunswick site's culture, people, safety, sales, and operations, he will be helping manage a location rebuild. The reinvestment project will feature a new 30,000+ square feet building to house the hardware store, drive-thru indoor lumber yard, kitchen design showroom, and office spaces—plus a 50% expansion to the millwork warehouse building, 20,000 square feet of undercover, outdoor lumber storage, resurfacing, and expanded parking.

“I met with several members of the Hancock Lumber team during the hiring process,” Christ. “At every step of the way, it was clear the company’s mission and values aligned with my own. General managers have the freedom to manage their site and are trusted with that—plus there is a spirit of collaboration and transparency across the entire organization.”
