Hampton Lumber Mill’s Darrington, Wash., location is operating at 75% capacity because of an insufficient supply of logs, according to The Daily Herald. The location receives about half of its logs from the state Department of Natural Resources land and the rest of its logs from private timber owners. As the number of private owners are dwindling, the mill is in need of increased public timber to stay in business. CEO Steve Zika estimates the mill needs to increase its public sourcing of timber to 70% to stay in business.
