SRS Acquisition Corp. announced today it opened a new location in Annapolis, Md., under the Superior Distribution name. It's the third new store for SRS this month and the 45th overall for the McKinney, Texas-based specialty roofing company.

The Annapolis facility will carry residential and commerical roofing projects and serve the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area as well as communities along Cheapeake Bay's Eastern Shore. Kirk Young will serve as branch manager.

"Gaining a presence in the mid-Atlantic region is of great strategic importance to SRS for the long term," Dan Tinker, SRS' chief operating officer, said in a statement. "The Greater D.C. market benefits significantly from the federal government's impact on the local economy, and Annapolis, in particular, is a market that is ideal to launch the beginning of a large network of distribution centers. This represents just the first step in our vision to build Superior into a strong regional brand that eventually will have dozens of locations covering all of Virginia, Maryland and D.C."

SRS, a portfolio company of AEA Investors LLC, now operates 45 locations in 17 states under 12 names. Last week, it announced it was in the final stages of acquiring State Shingle Co. in Oakland, Calif. The purchase was scheduled to close on April 1. And the previous week, SRS announced it opened in San Antonio its ninth facility under the Southern Shingles name.
