Want to get paid faster? Consider sending your bills electronically, such as via e-mail, computer-generated fax, or online. That's increasingly what the nation's biggest LBM dealers are doing, says Billtrust, the Jamesburg, N.J.-based provider of outsourced billing services whose customers include six of the 10 biggest companies on the ProSales 100. Billtrust's building supply customers sent an average of 35.2% of their bills electronically in the third quarter of this year, up nearly 12 points from the opening quarter of 2008. Billtrust research indicates electronic presentment and payment can reduce Accounts Receivable times by three to 10 days.
