SRS Acquisition Corp., one of the nation's fastest-growing building supply companies, announced today it opened in San Antonio its 43rd location nationwide and its ninth facility under the Southern Shingles name.

"We have been seeding this market for months from our Austin location with great success," Ron Ross, SRS' chief executive officer, said in a statement, "but because of challenges due to the shipping distance, it was imperative that we open a physical location here to support the contractors going forward."

The San Antonio branch will serve all of South Texas down to the Rio Grande Valley with a full line of residental and commercial roofing products, McKinney-based SRS said in a statement. It will be managed by Tim Lynch, who has worked in the San Antonio market for 25 years.

Unlike many other instances of SRS' recent expansion, San Antonio's new Southern Shingles branch is a startup. SRS now operates 43 locations in 16 states under these names: Suncoast Roofers Supply (serving Florida), Southern Shingles (Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana, Rowe Supply (Georgia and South Carolina), Atlanta Roofing Supply (Georgia), Wilson Wholesale (Illinois and Minnesota), River City Wholesale (Kentucky), Superior Distribution (Tennessee), Shake & Shingle Supply (Colorado), Stewart Building & Roofing Supply (Arizona), Roofline Supply (Oregon and California), Stoneway Roofing Supply (Washington state) and Pace Supply (Pennsylvania).

It ranked 15th on the 2010 ProSales 100 list, but moved up to No. 14 after No. 2 ABC acquired No. 4 Bradco. SRS posted sales of $240 million in 2009. SRS is a portfolio company of AEA Investors LLC.
