Cameron Ashley Building Products continued its busy activity period to start the calendar year by opening a distribution center in Columbia, S.C. The facility is the third distribution center the distributor has opened in 2019. It previously opened centers in Rocky Mount, N.C. and Macedonia, Ohio, in January.
The Columbia distribution center will serve an approximate 150-mile radius from Savannah, Ga., to Wilmington, N.C., west to Asheville, N.C., and north to Winston-Salem, N.C. The facility will provide sales and inventory support for the company’s continued growth in roofing, insulation, gypsum, and other building materials.
The distribution center will open in March, according to Regional VP Tom Gaffey, and will expand the distributor’s coverage to better serve customers in the east region. CertainTeed Roofing, Knauf Insulation, Lomanco Vents, National Gypsum, TAMKO Roofing, Titanium/RhinoRoof, and USG will be among the key suppliers for the distribution center.
“We are continuing to expand our footprint nationally and regionally, and our Columbia distribution center allows us to be even better at what we do best – fulfill our customers’ needs with on time and complete deliveries,” said Distribution Center Manager Jack Nilsson.
Greenville, S.C.-based Cameron Ashley, a company of Pacific Avenue Capital Partners, is a distributor of roofing, insulation, gypsum, and other specialty building products with more than 30 distribution centers in 20 states nationwide.
In addition to the three facility openings in 2019, Cameron Ashley also announced its acquisition of St. Louis-based distributor Warrior Building Products in late January. Cameron Ashley has become active in expansions and acquisitions since Pacific Avenue has taken over ownership of the company in April 2018. The company changed its name from Guardian Building Products to Ashley Building Products at the beginning of the year.
