California-based lumber and building materials supplier West Coast Lumber (WCL) acquired Stone Truss. Located in San Diego, Stone Truss is a designer and manufacturer of roof and floor truss systems.

The acquisition marks the entry into the structural component manufacturing category for WCL. The move also coincides with the dealer’s recent appointment of Jason Walsh as the vice president of component manufacturing at WCL.

WCL was launched by Boston-based private equity firm Building Industry Partners in 2022 and operates locations in Agoura Hills, Bakersfield, Camarillo, and San Diego, Calif.

“Between the acquisition of Stone Truss and Jason joining our team, we are making significant strides with our expansion strategy,” Joe Lawrrence, CEO of WCL, said in a prepared statement. “These advances ensure that we can deliver a wider range of solutions to meet our customers’ evolving needs.”

Stone Truss specializes in the custom design, cutting, and manufacturing of wood roof trusses and floor trusses for residential and commercial construction. The manufacturer will continue to operate from its North San Diego County manufacturing facility and has near-term plans to increase its production capacity, according to WCL.

Stone Truss owners Richard Thomas and Charlie Signorino will remain with the company, offering continuity for customers and employees. The California pro dealer said that Stone Truss employees will have the opportunity to benefit from WCL’s people-focused practices, including its employee equity plan.

“We are proud to have the highly skilled and talented Stone Truss team join the growing WCL family,” Maged Diab, director at BIP, said. “For three decades, Stone Truss has built a reputation as a forward thinking, customer-centric company that takes care of its people. Their commitment to service, innovation, and their employees are fully aligned with WCL. We plan to grow the Stone Truss business meaningfully over time and will be looking for great additional talent to join us.”

WCL said it is actively seeking opportunities to invest and expand in the component manufacturing space, with particular interest in the West coast, Arizona, and Nevada.

Boston-based Building Industry Partners has been involved in the formation of several leading industry players over the past decade, including US LBM, Kodiak Building Partners, Homewood Holdings, U.S. Fence Solutions/Binford Supply, United Cabinet Holdings, and Rugby Architectural Building Products.
