US LBM continued its busy year of acquisitions with its purchase of J.P. Hart Lumber and Hart Components, a building products distributor and manufacturer with eight locations across Texas. The purchase of J.P. Hart Lumber, coupled with the specialty distributor’s acquisition of Higginbotham Brothers in May, brings US LBM’s presence to 65 locations in the Lone Star State.
“Joining with US LBM in our 82nd anniversary year will allow us to continue to grow, provide new solutions for our valued customers, and opportunities for our dedicated people,” W.B. Hart and Greg Wright, said in a prepared statement. Both Hart and Wright will remain with the company, with Wright continuing to lead day-to-day operations following the completion of the acquisition.
The acquisition of J.P. Hart Lumber and Hart Components comes less than a week after US LBM announced its acquisition of LBM giant American Construction Source.
San Antonio-based J.P. Hart’s operations serve the major markets in Texas with five building materials yards and one window distribution facility across Austin, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and San Antonio. Hart Components operates two roof truss and wall manufacturing facilities in Austin and San Antonio.
“The Hart team is widely respected and known for excellence and innovation by professional builders across Texas,” US LBM president and CEO L.T. Gibson said. “When this acquisition is completed, US LBM will have an expansive network across Texas, with a strong presence in every major housing market, including Ausin, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and San Antonio.”
Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based USL LBM has completed more than 65 acquisitions since it was founded in 2009, including five since being acquired by Bain Capital Private Equity in November.
In addition to its acquisitions of American Construction Source and Higginbotham Brothers, US LBM added six locations with its November 2020 acquisition of Zeeland Lumber, 10 locations with its acquisitions of Ridgefield Supply Company, Tri-County Building Supplies, and Jennings Builders Supply & Hardware in December 2020, and five locations with its acquisition of Gilcrest/Jewett in January 2021. The distributor has also added greenfield locations in New Castle, Del., Paterson, N.J., and Yeadon, Pa., since November 2020.
US LBM offers a portfolio of specialty products, including windows, doors, millwork, wallboard, roofing, siding, engineered components, and cabinetry.
