Spahn & Rose Lumber acquired Lake Geneva, Wis.-based Dunn Lumber.
Family-owned Dunn Lumber was founded in 1984. Dunn Lumber consists of three business segments: lumber and building materials, hardware, and rental. The company serves professional builders, remodelers, and homeowners across southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. Dunn recently was named the 2019 Wisconsin Retail Lumber Association Dealer of the Year. The current owners, Mike and Terry Dunn, plan to retire after the completion of the transaction, according to a news release.
“This acquisition is a win-win for everyone,” Spahn & Rose CEO Dave Davis said. “Dunn Lumber is a wonderful family business with the same corporate philosophy as Spahn & Rose: it treats customers like family. The culture at Dunn Lumber is very similar to Spahn & Rose, so it is a natural fit.”
Davis also said the location will continue to operate under the Dunn Lumber brand name and Spahn & Rose has no plans to alter Dunn’s marketing focus or local management team.
Dubuque, Iowa-based Spahn & Rose was founded in 1904 and operates 24 locations throughout Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. The distributor was ranked 56th on the most recent ProSales 100, generating $119.6 million in revenue, with 85% of sales going to pros.
