Spahn & Rose Lumber entered an agreement to purchase Marietta, Ga.-based Metro Building Products. The pro dealer said it plans to keep the Metro Building Products brand name, marketing focus, and local management.

“Metro Building Products shares the same values and corporate culture as Spahn & Rose,” Dave Davis, CEO of Spahn & Rose, said in a news release. “Like Spahn & Rose, Metro provides outstanding service to both contractor and homeowner customers. This was a unique business opportunity and we’re very proud to have Metro join Spahn & Rose.”

Joe McKenzie and his wife, Tina, founded Metro Building Products in 1991. The company serves builders, remodelers, and homeowners in Atlanta, Kennesaw, Smyrna, Sandy Springs, Vikings, and several other communities throughout Cobb County in northwest Georgia. The company specializes in high quality building materials, including cedar, douglas fir timbers, decking, cedar shakes, Big Green Egg grills, and iron and aluminum railings.

“For more than three decades, Metro Building Products has always maintained a high level of customer service while providing quality products to contractors and homeowners,” McKenzie said. “Metro has been growing and thriving, and with Spahn & Rose we’re going to have new and exciting opportunities to serve our customers.”

The acquisition of Metro Building Products is the third for Spahn & Rose in as many years. In February 2019, the dealer acquired Lake Geneva, Wis.-based Dunn Lumber and in February 2020, the company acquired Reinbeck, Iowa-based Moeller & Walter Lumber.

Dubuqe, Iowa-based Spahn & Rose was founded in 1904 and operates more than 20 locations throughout Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and, now, Georgia.
