North American Specialty Laminations, owned by LBM-focused private equity firm Building Industry Partners (BIP), expanded through the acquisition of Haida Industries. Haida will now operate as SourceCut West.

“We are honored and thrilled to welcome Haida into the American Laminations family of businesses as the second investment in our platform, operating as SourceCut West,” Ted Rock, American Lamination CEO, said in a news release. “Put simply, our customers have national distribution needs and reach, and we are expanding to accommodate these needs.”

Sparks, Nev.-based Haida Industries specializes in profile lamination of PVC, MDF, wood, aluminum,, and fiberglass for window and door extrusion, door jambs, baseboards, trims, and picture and mirror frames for both interior and exterior finishers. Terms of the acquisition were not publicly disclosed.

SourceCut Industries was acquired by North American Specialty Laminations upon its formation in September. Osseo, Wis.-based SourceCut focuses on window, millwork, and building product component profile wrapping.

American Laminations invests in and grows companies that manufacture and manipulate specialty substrates and laminate and wrap component profiles for customers in the window, door, flooring, specialty millwork, and cabinet and casegoods markets.

The expansion westward into the Reno, Nev., market for American Laminations establishes a western manufacturing and distribution hub for SourceCut, enabling the American Laminations platform of companies to service building products companies in the western United States, according to BIP.

“Geographic expansion was an impetus for partnering with BIP to create American Laminations and this acquisition is a critical first step. We look forward to further expansion,” Brad Wiedenhoeft, the founder of SourceCut and the CRO of American Laminations, said.

Over the past decade, BIP has been involved in the formation of several leading industry players, including US LBM, Kodiak Building Partners, Homewood Holdings, U.S. Fence Solutions/Binford Supply, United Cabinet Holdings, and Rugby Architectural Building Products. BIP recently formed Southeast LBM Interests in July, a regional LBM dealer organization, through the acquisition of the Warner Robins family of businesses.
