Nation’s Best acquired the assets of two-unit, Do it Best member Simms Lumber in Texas. Simms Lumber has been serving the Weatherford, Texas, area and surrounding communities for over 100 years.
Since 2005, Simms has operated a warehouse for hire in Cresson, Texas, under the name “MetroWest” transload. MetroWest has a service area of approximately 400 miles.
“We are pleased to welcome all Simms Lumber associates to the Nation’s Best family and also look forward to continuing to provide the best level of service and support to the company’s customers,” Chris Miller, president and CEO of Nation’s Best, said in a news release. “Simms Lumber’s state-of-the-art lumberyard, fully stocked hardware store, and MetroWest Transload operation makes it a very appealing strategic fit for Nation’s Best, having already established a strong foothold in north Texas with now 10 locations in that market.”
Simms Lumber will continue to operate unders its existing name and key leadership team members will remain in place to oversee company operations alongside Nation’s Best. Nation’s Best will provide the strategic and financial support “necessary to achieve optimal growth and profitability,” according to the company.
“We have worked very hard over the years to grow Simms Lumber into a reputable and state of the art company,” John Simms, president of Simms Lumber, said. “We have had the pleasure to interact with Nation’s Best’s leadership team since April of this year and feel confident that our associates, customers, and all stakeholders are in the best hands, with Keith Kirk, general manager of Simms Lumber, continuing on with Nation’s Best in this capacity.”
Nation’s Best, founded in 2019, is a member-owner of Do It Best Corp. The company operates ten locations across Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. The company has expanded via acquisitions of three-unit Groom & Sons’ and Lambert Lumber in February, five-unit Bridgeport Building Centers in March, and one-unit Hall’s Hardware in July.
