Maximus Building Supply is expanding in west Tennessee with the acquisition of Brighton Lumber Company, located in Brighton, Tenn. Oneal Tankersley has owned and managed Brighton Lumber Company for the past 17 years.

“I knew we wanted to expand the company, and Brighton Lumber Company was the perfect opportunity,” Maximus Building Supply president and owner Richard Cooper said. “Brighton is less than 35 miles north of Memphis and less than 30 miles from Stanton, Tenn., where the new Ford Blue Oval City mega-campus is being built - we feel this is an ideal location and we see exceptional growth potential in this market.”

Maximus Building Supply serves customers in Tipton County, Shelby County, Jackson, and Pickwick, Tenn. The company also services north Mississippi, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

“Having a location in Brighton helps us support those markets and allows us to serve more customers in west Tennessee,” Cooper said.

According to a news release, Brighton’s lumberyard will be closed for two weeks to re-organize its warehouse and bring in more inventory. The business will fully reopen in August branded as Maximus Building Supply.

“I am thrilled to be turning the store over to the Maximus team,” Tankerlsy said. “I know they will provide the quality and service the builders in this area expect. I am retiring from selling building materials, but I will continue building custom homes in Brighton and Munford and plan to buy all my building supplies from Maximus.”
