Kodiak Building Partners, the investment firm headed by former ProBuild chief Paul Hylbert, announced this week its second purchase this year: Great West Drywall Supply, a specialty distributor of drywall, steel framing, ceilings, and accessories serving the Denver market.
Todd Mills, who had owned Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Great West with a group of investors since it was created in 2002, will remain in charge of the company but operate from a new location in Aurora. That's where Kodiak's first investment, Barton Supply, has a 20-acre facility. Barton is a fabricator and distributor of structural reinforced steel products.
"We are very excited about bringing Todd Mills and the Great West team into the Kodiak portfolio," said Hylbert, who is Kodiak's CEO. "We expect the distribution of drywall and accessories to be a core part of our future growth."
The Oct. 15 acquisition announcement follows July's purchase of Gulf and Basco, a specialty distributor of cabinets, appliances, and windows serving the Houston market. Kodiak acquired Barton in July 2011.
