Kodiak Building Partners expanded its Interiors Group today with the announcement that it acquired Specialty Appliance LLC, an appliance dealer with five locations in Colorado.

Kirk Dryden and Greg Ulvedal founded the company in 1998 and now have locations in Denver, Greenwood Village, Fort Collins, Louisville, and a new unit in Colorado Springs, Colo. Ulvedal will continue to run Specialty Appliance and its 120-person team. It serves builders, retail customers, designers, and architects.

This is the third interiors specialty company that Kodiak has acquired. The others are Arizona Wholesale Supply and the Texas-based Factory Builder Stores. Doug Rapier leads Kodiak's Interiors Group.

“Specialty Appliance is a strong and well-known player in the Colorado markets," Kodiak Chairman Paul Hylbert said in a news release. "[Interiors] is an important segment for us at Kodiak, and the team and management at Specialty Appliance reinforces our strength in multiple ways.”

Kodiak, the No. 14 company on the 2017 ProSales 100, now has 61 facilities in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, Delaware, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Maryland. It differs from most other LBM holding companies in its range of specialities: interiors, construction supplies, lumber and building materials, and commercial drywall and doors.
