Kodiak Building Partners acquired Sunrise Builders Supply, a lumber and building materials supply company with one location in Mississippi and one location in Tennessee. Founded in Horn Lake, Miss., in 1996, Sunrise Builders Supply provides lumber, engineered wood, trusses, hardware, tools, and paint to builders, contractors, and DIY customers.

“Being a part of a national company like Kodiak will provide increased growth opportunities for our business and employees as well as access to new vendors,” Charles Thomas, president of Sunrise Builders Supply, said in a news release. “For our customers, Sunrise will continue to deliver the same premium products and service excellence they expect from us, supplemented by the resources Kodiak can now provide.”

Kodiak said the lumber and building materials sector has been an important growth market for the company. With the acquisition of Sunrise Builders Supply, Kodiak has an owned-and-operated footprint of more than 100 locations in 25 states.

“We have long admired Charles Thomas’ leadership and the stellar products, team, and culture that he has cultivated at Sunrise,” Mike Flood, executive vice president of operations at Kodiak, said. “We are excited to expand within this market and continue Sunrise Builders Supply’s local legacy. Even as we grow as an organization, it remains vital to maintain our focus on local autonomy and expertise.”

Kodiak CEO Steve Swinney said the company had been studying growth opportunities in the southeastern market and Sunrise Builders Supply “stood out as a like-minded partner focused on customer-first service and deep relationships.”

Highland Ranch, Co.-based Kodiak Building Partners operates more than 100 locations across Arizona, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
