Hardwoods Distribution Inc. (HDI) completed the purchase of Pacific Mutual Door Company (PMD). The deal includes several brands and distribution centers in Kansas City, Mo., Albuquerque, N.M., Nashville, Tenn., and Osborne, Kan. The acquired brands—Pacific Mutual Door Company, Warren Brothers Sash & Door, Olathe Millwork, and Hardman Wholesale—will continue to operate under their brand names as part of Rugby Architectural Building Products, a division of HDI, according to a news release.

PMD is a wholesale distributor and fabricator of interior and exterior doors, custom millwork, and ancillary building products. The distributor’s customer base includes contractors, distributors, builders, and pro dealers across eight states.

“We are pleased to welcome the employees of PMD to HDI,” Rob Brown, president and CEO of HDI, said in a news release. “This strategic acquisition brings with it a highly profitable business model, and increases our existing presence in the attractive door and related millwork product category.”

The acquisition of PMD will form the Rugby Midwest Region, according the Rugby Architectural Building Products president Drew Dickinson. Rob Beason will lead the new region and assume the role of Midwest regional general manager.

The addition of PMD to Rugby Architectural Building Products, a distributor of architectural wood products, decorative surfaces, door, and millwork products, is a “logical extension,” according to the news release. Rugby Architectural Building Products has 36 facilities, including 19 which operate as dual distribution and light manufacturing facilities.

HDI is a distributor of architectural grade building products to the residential and commercial markets. The company has 66 distribution centers across North America that operate under the brand names: Hardwood Specialty Products, the Frank Paxton Lumber Company, and Rugby Architectural Building Products.
