Central Network Retail Group (CNRG), one of the most diverse members of the ProSales 100 as well as one of its fastest-growing, announced today it will buy MAC's Inc., a 14-unit hardware store chain serving the Dakotas and Minnesota.

MAC's chairman Chuck McWethy said in a CNRG-issued news release that the move "was driven by the company’s desire to provide future opportunities to expand the Mac’s footprint and better serve its customers." MAC's was established by McWethy's grandfather in 1965 and is based in Moorhead, Minn.

“CNRG has the financial strength to sustain and expand our business in the future, and we believe this combination will be a tremendous benefit to our customer base,” McWethy said. The stores will continue to carry the Mac’s Hardware brand and its staff will remain.

CNRG president John Sieggreen said the company wants to expand in the Upper Midwest using the Mac's brand name. "This partnership with Mac’s Hardware takes CNRG over the century mark in store count," he said. "We are very pleased with what we have been able to accomplish in the last seven years since CNRG was founded and look forward to continued growth.”

Collierville, Tenn.-based CNRG's revenues rose 27% last year to reach $320.5 million. The company's mix of home centers, hardware stores, and pro-oriented lumberyards means it gets just 27% of its sales from pros. When counting only those sales to professionals, CNRG ranks 60th in size on the ProSales 100.
