Boise Cascade reached an agreement to acquire Birmingham, Ala.-based American Lumber Distributors and Brokers, according to a news release.

The Alabama company is a wholesale distributor of lumber, plywood, oriented strand board (OSB), James Hardie Siding, and engineered wood products. The distributor services 120 retailers across the country. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2019.

“American Lumber is an exceptional supplier of many building products,” said Nick Stokes, executive vice president of Boise Cascade. “With their experienced and knowledgeable team, they will be a great addition to our nationwide distribution network and will enhance our service capacity in the Southeast.”

The acquisition of American Lumber continues a pattern of regional distributor acquisitions by Boise, Idaho-based Boise Cascade. The wholesale distributor previously acquired Nashville, Tenn.-based Lumberman’s Wholesale Distributors in March 2018, Medford, Ore.-based Norman Distribution in May 2018, and Cincinnati, Ohio-based Arling Lumber in October 2018.
