American Builders Supply (ABS), a supplier of doors, windows and trusses that was purchased by an equity firm last March, expanded its central Florida operations by announcing Wednesday the acquisition of CBS Builders Supply of Clermont, Fla.

Founded in 1945, CBS supplies lumber, doors, millwork, trusses and wall panels. David Wallace, CBS' vice president of sales and marketing, was named ABS' vice president of sales, while CBS president Tad Wolfe was named ABS' vice president for lumber and truss operations.

"The addition of CBS is a significant step in our company’s path to becoming the premier independent building supply company in the state of Florida," ABS CEO Paul Haefcke said. "We are now even better-positioned to benefit from increasing activity in the Florida housing market."

A unit of the private equity firm Blue Wolf Capital Partners LLC acquired ABS in March 2011. Blue Wolf's news release announcing the CBS deal describes ABS as the largest independent supplier of doors, windows and trusses to homebuilders in Florida, but did not provide figures backing up that claim. It is based in Sanford, Fla., near Orlando, with manufacturing and distribution facilities in Winter Haven, Melbourne, and Jacksonville.

Blue Wolf said it also acquired two other area competitors in October 2011 but didn't name them or indicate their locations.
