Alexander Lumber, a dealer with 20 units in Illinois and Wisconsin, announced today it acquired the assets of Peoples Complete Building Center in Watseka, Ill. The store opened today with the Alexander Lumber name.

Peoples Complete Building Center opened in 1902 and has been led by four generations of the Martin family.  “We are happy to see our employees and customers being able to continue on with a family owned and community oriented company like Alexander Lumber," said Dan Martin, a member of the fourth generation of Martins. "While People’s has been in operation in Watseka for a long time, it is exciting to become a part of Illinois’ oldest retail lumber company.”

Alexander Lumber President and CEO Russ Kathrein called Watseka "a natural addition to our stores servicing the nearby Gilman and Fairbury markets.” This is one of the first major moves made by Kathrein since the former ProBuild executive vice president became Alexander's president in August 2014.

Founded in 1891, Alexander Lumber has 20 retail lumber locations, two component plants, and one countertop manufacturing facility in the Chicago market, central and western Illinois, and southern Wisconsin.
