East Haven (Conn.) Builders Supply, a subsidiary of US LBM Holdings, announced today it has acquired Millwood (N.Y.) Lumber, a 78-year-old lumberyard serving the New York City suburbs of Westchester County, N.Y., and Fairfield County, Conn.
"The addition of Millwood Lumber improves our access into Westchester County and increases our base of long-standing customers," East Haven Builders Supply president Antonio Rossano said in a statement. "We are excited to partner with Michael Malara and welcome him to the talented group of managers at East Haven Builders Supply."
Millwood Lumber will retain its name, and all current associates have been offered jobs with East Haven Builders Supply. The company provides lumber, millwork, and hardware and operates a window and door showroom.
This is the second deal for East Haven in two months. In May, the company announced it is occupying the Universal Components Corp. (UCC) truss and wall manufacturing location in Branford, Conn., and has formed a partnership with UCC's owner, Tom Mort. UCC serves southeastern New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, southern Vermont, and southern New Hampshire (story.)
The Millwood deal also continues the rapid expansion of US LBM, which was formed last fall out of several operations that Stock Building Supply had acquired over the years and then decided to discard when it reorganized under Chapter 11 last spring. It's on pace to rank among the top 15 dealers in the ProSales 100. It prides itself on having an operational structure that gives extensive leeway to its subisidiaries in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, New York, and Connecticut. It has more than 30 locations and 850 associates. ProSalesprofiled the company in May.
"Partnering with closely held businesses like Millwood Lumber with a longstanding tradition of excellence is how we plan on building US LBM into one of the leading building materials distributors in the U.S.," US LBM president and CEO L.T. Gibson said.
