Tum-A-Lum Lumber Co. announced today it acquired ProBuild's lumberyard in The Dalles, Ore., and will move its existing location in the city to that site.
"This is an excellent opportunity for Tum-a-Lum that will provide the company with a larger, more modern and efficient facility to help us better serve our customers, and allow us to increase our market share," general manager Mike Darby said in a news release. "We look forward to serving our new and existing customers from the integrated location in The Dalles."
ProBuild's decision to sell means that, if it wishes to continue serving customers in the community on the Columbia River that divides Oregon from Washington state, it would have to do so from locations that are at least 70 miles away.
Tum-A-Lum was founded in 1906 and has been in The Dalles since 1910. It has other retail locations in Hood River and Pendleton, Ore., as well as Susanville, Calif.
