Spahn & Rose Lumber acquired Reinbeck, Iowa-based full-service building design and materials store Moeller & Walter. As part of the purchase, Spahn & Rose will also acquire the business’s real estate and business assets.

To streamline operations and maximize efficiency after the acquisition, Spahn & Rose will combine its nearby Grundy Center, Iowa, location into the existing Moeller & Walter facility.

“This is a great acquisition that increases our presence in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls market,” Spahn & Rose CEO Dave Davis said in a news release. “By combining the Grundy Center Spahn & Rose location with Moeller & Walter, we’ll be able to serve our customers better than either location could before.”

The combined Spahn & Rose and Moeller & Walter location will operate under the Spahn & Rose Lumber brand. Lynn Trask, formerly the majority owner of Moeller & Walter, will become the general manager of the new location and Trask’s partner at Moeller & Walter Ron Peterson will also have a key role in the newly combined business. Matt Wilson will serve as the assistant general manager of operations and Dan Mohlis will serve as the assistant general manager of sales.
