Smitty's Building Supply, Inc. (www.smittys.com), one of the largest lumber and building material distributors in the northern Virginia and metropolitan DC region, announced an agreement to purchase the assets of Marvin Window & Door Showplace, based in Carlisle, Pa.
Marvin Window & Door Showplace has four retail locations in the DC market--McLean, Rockville, Chantilly and Alexandria. These sites will be integrated with WindowSmith, Smitty's current window and door showroom located in Falls Church, to form the largest window and door retail group in the region.
Established in 1996, Marvin Window & Door Showplace has grown to exceed $12.0 million in sales annually. Known for its expertise in the installation of windows and doors, the company is repeatedly called upon to perform historical restorations and produce custom designs.
"This acquisition significantly expands our window and door offering in the local marketplace," said Rick Smith, president and CEO of Smitty's Building Supply. "The Showplace customer base, expertise of its installation services, and experience of its employees add greatly to Smitty's current strengths."
George Peterson will join Smitty's as Vice President, Operations--Marvin Window & Door Showplace Division. He will report to Jeff Smith, Smitty's Senior Vice President.
Existing Showplace employees will be integrated into positions in Smitty's new Showplace Division.
According to Don Belt, COO, Smitty's, "As part of the Smitty's group of businesses we are able give Marvin Window & Door Showplace greater opportunity for growth due to Smitty's total solution approach. Showplace is destined to become the premier provider of windows and doors in our marketplace."
The acquisition is expected to be finalized in early January 2007.
