E.C. Barton's chief financial and purchasing officers--Tom Rainwater and Greg Smith, respectively--have left the No. 27 ProSales 100 dealer, E.C. Barton President and CEO Niel Crowson told ProSales in an email delivered today.

"We regret to announce the departure of Tom Rainwater and Greg Smith from the company to pursue other opportunities," Crowson's note said. "We wish them the best and know they will be successful in all of their future endeavors.”

The departures came as the Jonesboro, Ark.-based dealer was in the process of selecting a new person to succeed Crowson. Part of the changeover took place in March, when a new chairman was picked and Rainwater became head of the employee-owned company's ESOP committee.

E.C. Barton recorded $270 million in sales in 2016. It has 105 locations in 16 states, and its operations include the Bartons lumberyards, Surplus Warehouse, Grossman’s Bargain Outlet, Builders Material Company, and E.C.B. Brokerage and Surplus.

According to his LinkedIn web page, Rainwater had been CFO at E.C. Barton for nearly 30 years. Smith had been with the company even longer, since August 1983, his LinkedIn page shows.
