Carter Lumber's sales rose 13.3% in 2015 to reach $1.11 billion, the company announced today.

The dealer credited that growth in part to its performance in the Cleveland/Akron market. Carter now employs more than 500 people in that area, including at its Kent, Ohio, headquarters.

“While our competition was running away from places like Detroit, Cleveland, Akron and Toledo, we began investing in those markets and the investments are paying off," Carter president and COO Jeff Donley said in a statement. "While we will continue to add new markets to our portfolio, the Midwest is where we started. I strongly believe you can’t ever forget where you came from, because it’s what made you who you are today.”
