• George Senkler, owner of Concord Lumber in Littleton, Mass., received the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Retail Lumber Dealers Association for his work growing the organization from one location in 1963 to a four-division firm with more than 120 employees while taking on industry leadership roles.
  • The following members of the dealer community ran for office in the November elections: Jason Plummer, R-Ill., son of R.P. Lumber owner Robert Plummer, lost the race for Illinois' 12th Congressional District. Jason is vice president of corporate development at R.P. Lumber; State Rep. Jeff Brandes, R-Fla., grandson of late Tibbetts Lumber founder Linton Tibbetts, will retain his seat in the Florida Senate representing the 22nd District; Alan Clark, R-Ark., of Clarks Building & Decorating Center, Hot Springs, Ark., won a seat in the Arkansas Senate representing the 13th District. Clark is a member of the board of directors at the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association.
  • Quitman, Texas-based discount building-material supplier G&S Sales told police that 30 windows and 57 pre-hung door units, a combined value of more than $18,000, were stolen from its yard the evening of Nov. 9.
